Elven Nation of Oak's Heart

(Clean this section up, basic notes)
Dwarven Kingdom has tons of rival clans under a king, Elven Lands are more a Theocracy with two political factions under a Priest/Priestess.

The elves, despite being united under the Banner of the Oak, have split into two primary factions- The more fundemental Illothians, who inhabit the capital city of Niria, and the laid-back "rebellious" Iccarians, who inhabit the only major elven port of Theratas. (Illothians are the tree huggers, super nature devoted and pissed at the Dwarves for their mining and land destruction. Iccarians are the "modernized" group, more likely to trade and interact with the other races, harvest nature for their own profit, etc.)

Geography

Oak's Heart is located in the South-Western portion of Plutis. It's Northern border is shared with Stendanair, it's eastern border is with the ruins of Tempest, and the rest of the peninsula is exposed to the ocean. Most of the Southern coast is very mountainous, with one major port Theratas nestled on the Western side. Forests cover most of the non-mountainous land, with a few grassy river valleys cutting across in the North. The capital city of Niria is nestled in the middle, surrounded by forest. Other small towns and villages dot the Northern passage between Stenanair and the Freelands, which is where most interaction with Non-Eleven races occurs. The forests range from new growth, to ancient groves centuries or even millennia old.

Political Structure

Oak's Heart is run by the Goddess' Council, a collection of four Arch Priests and a Grand Priest. They direct the religious and general direction of the country, with both direct and general decrees. Below that is the High Order of Priests, which see to the more mundane and day-to-day tasks involved with running the country.

Below the High Order of Priests is the normal Priestly Order, which handles both religious and political needs. Groups of priests (known as "Conventions") will be formed to oversee various projects and purposes (for example, education, inducting new priests, handling taxes, etc.) Those working under the priests in a Convention can be from outside the priesthood, as they will typically be civilians, workers, or knowledgeable craftsmen.

Outside of the two major cities, which are controlled by High Priests, most (if not all) smaller settlements have a Priest with the title "Bishop", who conducts political, civil, and religious matters of the settlement.

The entirety of Oak's Heart is "owned" by the Goddess Mundus, so the elves tend to be very communal and non-committal towards land ownership and the like.

Between the priests and non-priests of the elves, they are two major political factions:

  • The Illothians. They are more fundamentalist, more in tune with nature and the world as a whole. Many dislike the Dwarves for their constant mining and land destruction, and they also dislike humans for similar reasons. They are staunch isolationists, and believe the elves should stand on their own without interactions or assistance from the rest of Plutis. Illothians are also more in tune with nature, and are partial to druids and clerics when dealing with magic. As it stands, this faction has a higher percentage of wood elves than high elves.
  • The Iccarians. They are more liberal with their views, feeling that the world has changed and the elves should as well. They are open to the ideas of the Dwarves and Humans mining and destroying (their own) lands, as long as the end usage of those actions justify the means. They believe that everyone is put onto the planet for a reason, and that inter-cooperation between races is the best for everyone. Iccarians are more about the arcane arts, and are partial to all forms of magic, from nature-based, to patron-based, to the general arcane arts. As it stands, this faction has a higher percentage of high elves than wood elves.

There are also a wide range of smaller, issue-based political factions, but they do not have as large of a following as the Illothian or Iccarian groups.
