Scion

A Scion is an individual granted a special boon by a Greater God. This boon grants powers or abilities beyond a normal mortal, and is usually tied to a specific cause or desire of the God.

Scions can be from any walk of life, and may not even worship the God granting the boon. They are usually part of that God's religious order, but sometimes others are chosen for reasons up to the God's discretion.

Religious Scions are typically revered by members of that religious sect, while non-religious Scions are usually derided and hunted.

At any point, a God can revoke its boon, and take it back from the mortal.

A Scion is not to be confused with a Warlock, who makes a deal with a patron, or a Cleric, who worships a God and exercises that God's will in exchange for power. The Scion is usually granted the boon without prior knowledge that he or she has been chosen.
