Gem of Souls

Created by a powerful Necromancer whose name has been lost to time, the Gem of Souls is a jet black decahedron with the ability to animate the dead. To wield the Gem, one must sacrifice both their own soul, and another soul into it. Once this has been done, the wielder can then cast Animate Dead as a 9th-Level spell once a day, which animates up to seven undead creatures. For the cost of one additional sacrificed soul, the GoS can enchant a gemstone into a Lesser Soulstone, which can be embedded into one of the last seven creatures animated. It will refresh control over that set of animated creatures every 24 hours, allowing the Gem of Souls to animate additional dead. Sacrificing five souls to the GoS will enchant a gemstone into a Greater Soulstone, which will allow the wielder of the GoS to communicate with an animated creature (that has the gemstone embedded in it) outside of the 60' spell limitation, and extend those orders to up to seven Lesser Soulstone'd creatures per Greater Soulstone. Creatures with embedded Soulstones absorb some of the vitality and abilities of the souls that were used to create them, granting the creature additional health, resistances, and abilities.
